Invisalign

Having crooked teeth can cause people to feel embarrassed but wearing braces to straighten your smile may not seem much better. Karski & Spokane Orthodontics offers Invisalign®, a popular orthodontic alternative that uses clear aligners to subtly align teeth. If you’re interested in a comfortable, discreet form of orthodontics, book a free Invisalign consultation at our Beaver Falls, PA, office.

How Does Invisalign Work?

The Invisalign orthodontic system uses a series of custom aligners to gradually bring your teeth into alignment. They exert gentle pressure on the teeth without using obvious metal brackets and wires. Invisalign aligners can help you correct a range of orthodontic concerns, including:

  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Crossbites
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Overly crowded teeth
  • Rotated teeth

Invisalign treatment can take 6–18 months depending on a patient’s degree of dental misalignment. The average treatment time is around 12 months. Throughout the course of your treatment plan, you’ll wear your clear aligners for 20–22 hours each day, removing them only to eat and brush.

Our orthodontists will typically schedule you for checkup appointments every 10–12 weeks so they can monitor your progress. Patients can visit our office in Beaver Falls or any of our other five convenient locations in the Pittsburgh, PA, area.

3 Reasons to Choose Invisalign

Traditional braces are a tried-and-true orthodontic treatment, so why give Invisalign aligners a shot? Take a look at the benefits:

Comfort

Invisalign aligners are made of smooth, flexible plastic. They’re custom-made for your smile, ensuring a more comfortable treatment experience. Bulky metal braces can irritate the inside of your mouth, but that’s never an issue with Invisalign. These aligners are even safe to wear during contact sports.

Subtlety

Invisalign clear aligners are virtually invisible against your teeth. It’s likely that others won’t even know you’re wearing them. Whether you’re in a business meeting, taking family photos, or out on a date, rest assured that the attention will be on your confident smile rather than your orthodontics.

Convenience

Unlike braces, Invisalign aligners are completely removable. This means that you can brush and floss like you normally would and eat without any dietary restrictions throughout your treatment. Caring for your aligners is simple, too. Just brush them with a mild cleansing solution, rinse, and put them back in.

My Dentist Offers Invisalign Why Should I Visit an Orthodontist?

It’s true that many dentists around Beaver Falls and the entire Pittsburgh, PA, area now offer Invisalign orthodontics in addition to traditional dental services. This may leave you wondering why you should bother visiting an orthodontist for treatment at all. There are important reasons to undergo Invisalign with the help of an orthodontist, especially those like Dr. David C. Spokane and Dr. Melissa R. Karski.

While all orthodontists are dentists, few dentists are orthodontists. To become qualified, a dentist must pursue an additional three years of specialized training in the positioning of the teeth and jaws. This gives them the expertise to provide more precise orthodontic treatment for a greater range of issues.

Additionally, our orthodontists, Dr. Spokane and Dr. Karski, are VIP Diamond Providers of Invisalign. This places them among the top tiers of all Invisalign providers. They have helped hundreds of patients like you achieve excellent results with personalized Invisalign treatment plans.

Is Invisalign Right for You?

Our orthodontists will check a few things to determine your candidacy for Invisalign, including your:

Degree of Misalignment

Invisalign is best suited for patients with mild to moderate dental misalignment. However, our practice in Beaver Falls and Greater Pittsburgh offers Invisalign attachments as well. These small dots of dental resin are applied to the teeth to create a better “grip” on the aligner. This helps Invisalign work with more complex cases. Be sure to ask our orthodontists if Invisalign attachments can improve your candidacy.

Commitment to Results

The success of Invisalign treatment depends on a patient’s compliance. These aligners must be worn for at least 20 hours a day to produce the best results. They should only be removed for eating and brushing and always put back in before bed. Younger patients and those who may be prone to misplacing their aligners may benefit from an option that’s fixed in place, like clear braces.

The Invisalign Treatment Timeline

Once our orthodontists have determined you’re a good candidate for Invisalign, your treatment schedule will go something like this:

You’ll typically come in for brief checkup appointments every 10–12 weeks so we can make sure that your treatment is on track.

Digital Scans

We’ll use iTero® intraoral imaging to take fast and easy scans of your smile. These will be used to create 3D models that show how your teeth look now and how they’re expected to look at the end of your treatment.

Aligner Creation

Your 3D models will be used to guide the fabrication of your custom clear aligners at a certified Invisalign laboratory.

Aligner Fitting

We’ll receive your aligners from the lab in about two to three weeks. Then you’ll return to one of our offices for an aligner fitting appointment. Your orthodontist will ensure they feel comfortable in your mouth before you leave with your first set of trays.

Treatment Process

Wear your aligners for at least 20 hours a day and switch to a new set every two weeks. You’ll come in for brief checkup appointments every 10–12 weeks so we can make sure that your treatment is on track.
