Traditional Braces

Crooked teeth or a misaligned bite can cause a host of oral health concerns – not to mention detract from your smile.  Traditional braces are a trusted orthodontic solution to straighten even the most complicated misalignment. Karski & Spokane Orthodontics offers this option to give patients in the Beaver Falls, PA, area the beautiful smiles of their dreams.

Metal Braces A Trusted Orthodontic Solution

Traditional metal braces use metal wires and brackets to gently guide a patient’s teeth into proper alignment. Though orthodontic alternatives like ceramic braces, Invisalign®, and other brands of clear aligners have emerged, traditional braces remain a trusted option that can correct even the most extreme misalignment.

Dental Concerns Addressed with Traditional Braces

Our trusted orthodontists, Dr. David Spokane and Dr. Melissa Karski, use orthodontic treatment to correct a host of dental issues. These include:

  • Gapped Teeth
  • Overcrowding
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Open Bite
  • Cross Bite

Benefits of Orthodontics

Orthodontic treatments like metal braces offer many benefits, such as:

Better Oral Health

Misaligned, overlapping, or overcrowded teeth can be difficult to brush and floss. By straightening the teeth, you can brush and floss more effectively and better care for your oral health.

Enhanced Appearance

Crooked, gapped, or misaligned teeth can be embarrassing. Our skilled orthodontists can help straighten your teeth with traditional braces and enhance the appearance of your smile.

Prevent or Ease Pain

A misaligned bite can cause pain and lead to issues such as temporomandibular joint disorder. By correcting the misalignment, you can ease and even prevent pain and headaches.

Traditional Braces Timeline

We have six locations for your convenience and strive to provide the highest level of orthodontic and dental care possible.

Consultation

During your initial consultation appointment, your orthodontist will examine your mouth. They may then take impressions to develop a custom orthodontic treatment plan to help you achieve your goals.

Metal Braces Placed

When your treatment begins, your orthodontist will bond the metal brackets to your teeth. Our dental practice uses American Orthodontics brackets. These brackets are smaller than traditional types, which means they are less irritating to the cheeks, lips, and gums. Arch wires and bands are then added.

Adjustments

You will have periodic appointments at our practice for your orthodontist to examine your mouth and monitor your progress. Adjustments will be made to the wires to guide your teeth into proper alignment.

Treatment Complete

After about 12 to 24 months, your treatment will be complete and your orthodontist will remove your metal braces. To keep your smile straight for years to come, you will need to wear a retainer or aligner at night.
